COSE and I Buy NEO are asking people all over Northeast Ohio to make a pledge to redirect $100 of existing spending to locally owned and operated businesses in our area.
It’s really easy! For example, instead of eating at a chain restaurant, choose to patron a local diner or deli. Instead of buying produce from a chain grocer, try out the farmers market in your hometown. There are at least 100 ways to buy local.
It makes a big difference. For every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $45 stays in the local economy, creating jobs and expanding the region's tax base. For every $100 spent at a national chain store, only $14 remains in the community. That’s just one of many reasons it is better to shop locally.
A $48 million economic boost. If everyone in NEO pledged to redirect $100, we would pump $48 Million into the local economy.
A thank you! As a thank you for participating in the Buy Local Challenge, you will receive a discount card via mail to use at a number of area businesses and attractions throughout the month of August.
